There are seemingly no doubts that Antonio Conte will leave Tottenham at the end of this season and a return to Serie A is a likely possibility, reports detail.

Things have grown increasingly despondent in North London this campaign, with Spurs looking unimaginative and unambitious on the pitch and the Italian coach looking increasingly tired off of it, clear in his interviews and media appearances.

Tottenham’s Champions League exit after the loss to Milan has seen almost all the goodwill in England dry up for Conte and now a departure in the summer is essentially a guarantee, with his contract entering its final stages.

La Gazzetta dello Sport details what may come next for Conte, with a return to Serie A looking like a concrete possibility.

The difficulty lies with his contract; the 53-year-old currently earns around €10m net per season, figures that are impossible to match for the majority of Italian clubs, limiting his options to just two.

A Juventus return could occur, with Exor head John Elkann holding Conte in high esteem, but Massimiliano Allegri’s situation complicates things. The current Bianconeri coach earns €7m net per season and is contracted to the club until June 2025, making a dismissal in the summer expensive for the Old Lady.

The other option in Italy is Inter, who could look to bring back Conte should Simone Inzaghi be shown the door in the summer. The upcoming clash between the Nerazzurri and Porto could be key for the former Lazio coach’s future in the Lombardy capital.

The third idea is unrelated to football. Conte may decide to simply step away from football for a year, allowing him to focus on his family and recharge his batteries after a long and difficult year in England. The Italian coach lost multiple friends over the last few months and has been living in a hotel in London since his arrival at Spurs.
