Juventus legend Giorgio Chiellini has officially announced his retirement and he’s now deciding what path to follow after hanging up his boots.

The 39-year-old Italian centre back confirmed on Tuesday that he’d be leaving Los Angeles FC at the end of this month, deciding to call it quits on his playing career after the recent MLS Cup final loss to Columbus Crew.

Chiellini spent 17 years with Juventus from 2005 to 2022 and is now widely expected to return to the club soon, although he’ll stay in the United States until June so his daughters can finish their school year.

Pages two to seven of today’s Tuttosport detail how Chiellini has highlighted Juventus as his priority for his post-playing career and has already held meetings with the club to try and understand what role he could fill.

There are many options in front of the former defender, from a coaching role in a youth team and working with the Next Gen squad to taking on a more directorial role, possibly becoming the new vice-president after Pavel Nedved’s exit last year.

The FIGC are also interested in working with Chiellini and could offer him a role with the national team, similar to how Gianluigi Buffon recently became the team coordinator for the Azzurri.
