Alvaro Morata’s uncertain future in Turin could affect his mood, given that Juventus are unwilling to make his move permanent for €35m at the end of the season.

The Spaniard was involved in a touchline row with Massimiliano Allegri during Juventus-Genoa last night and there are multiple reasons behind his annoyance.

“He was booked, he was continuing to argue and so I preferred to take him off. It’s disappointing, as Alvaro had played well and so did the whole team,” Allegri explained at the end of the match.

Sky Sport Italia highlights how Morata usually seems quite irritable when he fails to score.

He was booked for dissent in the second half after a coming together with Davide Biraschi and Allegri replaced him.

Morata didn’t seem happy, and the Tuscan coach pushed him on the shoulder and shouted: ‘You gifted them a free kick!’

The Spain international has scored five goals in 19 appearances across all competitions this season, but Football Italia understands the Bianconeri are not willing to make his move permanent for €35m at the end of the campaign.

The Bianconeri could only sign Morata permanently only for a lower fee.

The Serie A giants have already paid €20m for the player’s two-year loan, but have set their sights on different strikers for January and 2022-23 with Fiorentina star Dusan Vlahovic on top of their shopping list.

Morata played down problems with Allegri with a social media post after the game, writing ‘Great win, always together and no controversy.’

However, his uncertain future in Turin and his lack of goals over the last two months (only two in 12 appearances) possibly have impacted his mood.

11 thought on “What’s behind Morata’s irritation at Juventus?”
  1. His frustration is coming from his lack of form in front of goal, he knows his worth and knows he should be doing better. For me. it’s natural for him to vent his frustration, there would be something wrong if he didn’t.

He’s probably feeling the pressure too, he knows he’s playing for a permanent move this season, he clearly wants to stay at the club he loves and his family have close ties to Turin also; so they’re probably settled and don’t relish a move back to Spain just yet.

  2. I would be disappointed if he was not frustrated! He is not scoring. But yet he looks like he is about to go on one of his 5-6 game scoring streaks. I would not be surprised if he scores 6 goals before the break.

  3. We need him to passionate but to know the limit and not be a liability by getting sent off.
I agree with Token Bubble but regardless Morata is not the solution up front and we should commit to signing a quality striker in January regardless of whether he contributes a few goals before then.

  4. @Juvewarrioe, completely agree, he’s not the man to take us forward, but if the club can negotiate a reduced final fee, I’d happily see him play back up or act as a foe for the likes of Vlahović. Maybe there’s too much pressure on him being the main target man at the moment? Tevez was the main man before during his first stint at the club and he seemed to flourish? I still think he could be useful to us, but only at the right price

  5. Morata is useless as a striker. Convert him to DM since he’s a harder worker & better tackler than finisher.

  6. The man never learns from being offside. Very frustrating player who falls over, cannot hold the ball up, passes back at the first moment and has a poor scoring record at club level.
