Audio has been released of the conversation between referee and VAR during the controversial incident where Torino were denied a penalty against Inter.

The match ended 1-1 on March 13, 2022, but Toro were 1-0 up when Andrea Ranocchia went through Andrea Belotti inside the penalty area.

It seemed like a clear spot-kick from the replays, though VAR surprisingly did not intervene to suggest an on-field review.

Now the AIA (Italian Referees’ Association) have released the recording of the conversation between referee Marco Guida and his VAR Davide Massa.

“Ball! Ball! Yes, he got the ball, carry on,” was the message Massa provided to his referee.

With that verdict from the man watching the replays from various angles, naturally Guida waved play on.

The blame for that remarkable error therefore falls squarely on Massa.

“The VAR should’ve looked more carefully at the footage. It was a serious error, but we won’t lose such a good referee over that,” said refereeing designator Gianluca Rocchi.

  1. Dangermom, yeah man. Marotta knows how it works after all the years at juventus. Learn the trade from the biggest crooks in calcio.

  2. Even their modern referees are incompetent! It seems everything excellent isn’t to come bye in Italy these days.

  3. Whenever dubious calls are made in favour of Milan, Inter, Napoli etc no one bats an eye. They say it was just a mistake etc, but when a similar call is made for Juve they all come out in force. Back in 2006 Juve was relegated for something the entire league was doing. We can all thank these fans for destroying Serie A

  4. juventini have the nerve to talk ? How did your team qualify to CL last season, remember? Cuadrado dive, then Calvarese retired and opened a business. Not suspicious at all.

  5. What happened to the VAR audio for the infamous Rafinha-Pjanic Orsato controversy of 2018 which cost Napoli a Scudetto, I wonder…

  6. I see a couple of delusional, opportunistic juventini saying that no big deal was made over this non call compared to juve getting calls… really? Audio released and it is still being discussed eventhouh the it’s been weeks since that game which Inter didn’t even win to begin with. On the other hand, barely any mention of Empoli being denied 2 pks against juve…juve stole 3 points but hardly anyone discussing that.
