Tonight’s Champions League clash between Tottenham and Marseille sees former Juventus teammates Antonio Conte and Igor Tudor facing each other in the dugout: here’s what they achieved (and lost) during their spell in Turin.

Spurs return to Europe’s elite competition facing the Ligue 1 giants who appointed Tudor as their coach last summer.

The former Croatia defender had a successful spell in Verona last season. He was appointed after just three games to replace Eusebio Di Francesco, leading the Gialloblu to a 9th placement registering the record of goals in the club’s history (65).

Conte and Tudor spent several years at Juventus during their playing career.

Tudor joined the club in 1998, collecting 174 appearances and 21 goals with the Old Lady.

Conte was already a veteran when Tudor arrived in Turin as the Italian had joined the club in 1991.

The former midfielder had won a Champions League in 1996 but lost the successive two against Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid.

Tudor was part of the Juventus squad in 2003 when the Old Lady lost a Champions League Final against Milan at Old Trafford.

However, their spell in Turin saw them conquer four trophies: two Serie A titles and two Italian Supercups. Conte retired in 2004 after 419 goals and 33 goals in Turin, while Tudor remained at the club until 2007 after a one-year-and-half loan spell at Siena.

He didn’t make a single appearance in Juventus’ Serie B campaign in 2006-07 and ended his career the following year after one season at Hajduk Split.

Igor is a friend and we play together at Juve for many years,” Conte said at a press conference yesterday.

“He is a really good guy and I am happy to see him on the bench in an important European club. He’s doing a really good job, he likes to work a lot and his team has an idea very clear and I wish him all best for him and Marseille apart from two games against us.”

The former Italy international won 13 trophies with Juventus as a footballer, plus three Serie A titles and two Italian Supercups as a coach.

Tudor was Andrea Pirlo’s assistant in 2020-21, when Conte won the title with Inter.
