Roma director Tiago Pinto confirmed Nicolò Zaniolo is pushing for a transfer, but Tottenham Hotspur and Milan are so far yet to find the right formula for a deal.

The Italy international is only under contract until June 2024 and both parties have now made it clear there will be no extension.

Zaniolo seems to be rushing the Giallorossi to make it a January exit rather than wait until June, as he asked not to be included in the squad travelling to La Spezia today.

“All of us in football know there are two different seasons, one where the transfer market is closed and we can all relax a bit more, another when the transfer window is open and someone tries to put individual interests in front of those of the collective,” director of sport Tiago Pinto told DAZN.

“Unfortunately, it is not the first time this has happened. Today all those who are here have the desire and motivation to fight for Roma and bring the three points home.”

According to Sky Sport Italia, Sportitalia and more, Roma are ready to let Zaniolo go for under €30m and even on loan, but only if there is an obligation to buy.

Tottenham and Milan are both prepared to pay €25m, but want it to be a loan with various caveats allowing them to escape early without making it a full purchase.

It is suggested a meeting will be held at Tottenham involving Fabio Paratici and Dan Levy tomorrow to discuss the situation.

Milan remain interested too, although it is more likely they would only be able to pounce in the summer.

Other clubs who are keeping an eye on the situation include PSG, Brighton, Nottingham Forrest and West Ham United.
