Milan can technically still qualify for the Champions League Round of 16, but they need to beat Newcastle United away and hope Paris Saint-Germain lose in Dortmund.

The Rossoneri have managed just one win in the group so far, 2-1 against PSG at San Siro, along with two draws and two defeats.

They were beaten 3-1 at home by Borussia Dortmund this evening and that puts them on the verge of elimination, as even third place and a slot in the Europa League is now going to be tricky.

The Italians are still in with a very slim chance of qualifying for the Champions League Round of 16, but would need to both beat Newcastle United at St. James’ Park and hope that Borussia Dortmund defeat PSG in Germany.

Borussia Dortmund are already guaranteed a place in the Last 16, but as PSG equalised with Newcastle thanks to a last-gasp Kylian Mbappé penalty, they are no longer sure of top spot.

The Germans have 10 points, PSG 7, Newcastle and Milan 5.

If two or more teams finish level on points, then the head-to-head record is the first criteria to divide them, then goal difference in the head-to-head record and number of goals scored in the head-to-head fixtures.

After that, it goes to overall goal difference, total goals scored and total goals scored in away games.
