What Milan need to qualify for the Champions League

With Roma and Atalanta losing today, it means Milan need only a point against Juventus to qualify for the Champions League.

The sides making their way into the top tier tournament is now becoming clear, as Scudetto winners Napoli are followed by Lazio and this evening also Inter.

There is only one spot left and Milan could clinch it on Sunday night with only a point against Juventus.

That is because they beat the Bianconeri 2-0 back in October, so a draw would give them a superior head-to-head record.

Of course, this is all possible because Juventus were docked 10 points for artificially inflating transfer fees to boost capital gains, taking them in one fell swoop from second place on 69 points to seventh on 59.

Because of that head-to-head record, Milan could even lose to Juve tomorrow by one clear goal and still qualify as long as they pick up at least a point against Hellas Verona in the final round.

Another alternative for the Rossoneri would be to lose both to Juve and Verona, but still go through if the Bianconeri fail to beat Udinese in the last game of the season.
