Romelu Lukaku scored his first Roma goal against Empoli on Sunday and celebrated with his teammate Andrea Belotti by telling him: ‘I told you!’
The Belgian forward netted his first goal as a Roma player on Sunday in a 7-0 victory against Empoli. It was Roma’s first win in Serie A in 2023-24.
Belotti delivered the assist for Lukaku’s goal and Il Corriere dello Sport reports that the Belgian celebrated with his teammate under the Curva Sud, saying: ‘I told you.’
Both Lukaku and Belotti will be available on Thursday when the Giallorossi visit FC Sheriff in the Europa League group stage opener.
However, Lukaku is expected to start on the bench alongside Paulo Dybala, making room for Belotti and Stephan El Shaarawy in the starting XI.
José Mourinho will be serving the first of a four-match ban in European competitions but will speak at a pre-match press conference from Moldova later today.
