Lautaro Martinez reportedly told his Inter teammates that the Supercoppa will be ‘more meaningful’ if the Nerazzurri also put their hands on the Scudetto this season: ‘We have nothing to fear.’

La Gazzetta dello Sports reports part of Lautaro’s post-match speech inside the Inter dressing room on Monday, following a 1-0 win over Napoli in the Supercoppa Final.

It was inspired by a late winner scored by the Argentinean striker, who then lifted the trophy as the team’s captain for the first time.

“I am proud to be the captain of a team like this,” Lautaro reportedly told his teammates after the game.

“Now, we must keep the bar high, this was only the first step.

“This Supercoppa will be even more meaningful if we win the Scudetto. This is the decisive moment, we must focus on Fiorentina, which is too important for the table,” continued El Toro.

“We must remain focused until the end as we did against Napoli. It’s the right path, we must continue thinking about ourselves, as we’ve done until now. We have nothing to fear.”

The Nerazzurri sit second in the Serie A table, one point below Juventus, but Simone Inzaghi’s men have a game in hand.

The next league game is away at Fiorentina, who currently sit fourth and were eliminated in the Supercoppa semi-final last week.

Inter will be without the suspended Nicolò Barella and Hakan Calhanoglu in their upcoming league game in Florence, but they will rely on Lautaro, the current Serie A top scorer with 18 goals.
