Stars of the France national team were reunited at San Siro on Sunday afternoon as Bayern Munich duo Lucas Hernandez and Benjamin Pavard were in attendance for Milan’s 2-0 win over Lecce in Serie A.

Hernandez was in town to see his younger brother, Theo, who wore the armband for the Rossoneri in their game over the weekend.

Hernandez senior and Pavard were invited into the Rossoneri dressing room after the game, where they were able to catch up with international teammates Mike Maignan and Olivier Giroud as well as Hernandez senior.

The meet-up between the Hernandez brothers makes perfect sense – they are family of course, but supporters immediately started to question the reasoning behind Pavard’s presence. Could a potential move to join Stefano Pioli’s side be on the cards?

Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport in November, the World Cup-winning defender said: “I’ve been playing for seven years now in Germany, with Bayern I’ve won everything. I play to win and I’m available to evaluate new interesting projects, but as a central defender.”

Whilst nothing has been confirmed in terms of a potential transfer, there is reason to buy into the speculation given what Giroud had told Pavard about Milan and the Calcio culture in Italy.

“Olivier always tells me that Italy is a country that thrives on football one hundred percent. He told me about the magic of the derbies, the big fan celebrations after the Scudetto victory.

“I’d really like to play with him also because he’s a great friend. We’ll see, winning is never easy, but Serie A is very interesting.”
