Olivier Giroud had nothing but kind things to say about his former Chelsea teammate Christian Pulisic amidst rumours linking the US international with a move to join Milan in the summer transfer window.
Pulisic is approaching the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge, and with a mass exodus on the horizon in West London, the ex-Dortmund winger is expected to leave before the start of next season.
He and Giroud had overlapped for two years at Chelsea between 2019-21, when Giroud left to join Stefano Pioli’s side for around €1m at the end of the 2020-21 season.
After Giroud’s switch to San Siro, the two clubs are reported to have a solid working relationship.
Talking to CBS Sports about his former teammate, Giroud said: “I think everyone would like (to see Pulisic at Milan). He’s a big name in Europe, so that would help us. He is that kind of player with great skills, with great talent. He is a cheerful boy, always smiling. We laughed a lot with him.
“Our understanding on the pitch was also excellent, a bit like with Eden Hazard, even though I played less with Christian. We knew how to find each other.”
According to Calciomercato, Milan’s priorities in the transfer window are to land a double-digit goalscorer, a central midfielder and a right-winger.
With Pulisic’s ability to play equally well on both wings, as well as having been deployed as a false nine at times with Chelsea, he could be an ideal candidate to fill the vacancy.
