Roma are looking to make a move for ex-Borussia Dortmund defender Dan-Axel Zagadou but now they’ll reportedly have to fight off competition from West Ham.

The 23-year-old French centre back is currently a free agent after his contract expired with the Bundesliga club last month, and he’s still unattached as the final month of the summer transfer window ticks by.

As reported by The Sun, West Ham are closely following Zagadou’s situation and are keen to make a move for the free agent should Issa Diop leave this month. They’ll have to move fast if they want to beat out their competition, however, as Roma are gearing up to make an offer to the Frenchman.

Both the Giallorossi and the Hammers are building strong projects in their respective capitals and both clubs have done well this summer in the transfer window. West Ham have spent over €100m and picked up key additions like Gianluca Scamacca, Nayef Aguerd and Maxwel Cornet, whilst Roma have impressed in the free agent market, picking up Paulo Dybala and Nemanja Matic.
