West Ham United are reportedly battling Paris Saint-Germain for Sassuolo centre-forward Gianluca Scamacca, who has a €50m asking price.

It is no secret that PSG have been in negotiations with the Neroverdi for the Italy international, but their offer has reportedly reached only €35m compared to the €50m demand.

According to Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, the situation has now changed with news that West Ham are ready to make their own proposal for the striker.

The 23-year-old found the net 16 times in 36 Serie A appearances for Sassuolo in the 2021-22 season and also earned his senior Italy debut, amassing seven caps for the Nazionale.

West Ham have been trying to sign a new striker for over a year now and consequently have been linked with numerous players this summer.

They include Armando Broja of Chelsea, Blackburn forward Ben Brereton Diaz and Sevilla’s Youssef En-Nesyri.

Scamacca was linked with several Serie A clubs as well, including Milan and Napoli, but the €50m asking price means a move abroad is far more likely.
