Milan face strong competition for AZ Alkmaar midfielder Tijjani Reijnders from West Ham United, claim reports in Italy.

It had been rumoured that there was interest from a Premier League side and it is now confirmed by Sportitalia as the Hammers.

Reijnders turns 25 in July and only recently signed a new contract with AZ Alkmaar to June 2027.

There have been reports that Milan agreed personal terms with the player, who is enthusiastic about the idea of representing the Rossoneri, who have a long history of Dutch talent at San Siro.

He is expected to be given a contract worth €1.7m per season.

However, the approach from West Ham and another unnamed Premier League club could throw a spanner in the works when it comes to agreeing a fee with AZ Alkmaar.

The club is eager to spark a bidding war and push the asking price beyond the current €18-20m that is under discussion, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
