Napoli are looking at other options, as West Ham United come closer to matching the €40m asking price for Piotr Zielinski.

The Hammers are not done shopping in Serie A after spending €36m plus €6m in add-ons and a 10 per cent cut of the sell-on fee for Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca.

According to Sky Sport Italia, they are ready to meet the €40m asking price for Napoli midfielder Zielinski.

His contract runs to June 2024 with an option to extend for a further year.

The Poland international spent most of his career in Serie A with Udinese since 2011, a loan spell at Empoli from 2014 to 2016 and then the €16m sale to Napoli.

Last season Zielinski scored eight goals and provided five assists in 42 competitive games.

The Partenopei are prepared to part with the 28-year-old for the right price and are looking at alternatives.

These include Giovani Lo Celso of Tottenham Hotspur and Hellas Verona player Antonin Barak.

  1. What the hell are napoli doing if this guy can’t run the club he needs to sell it someone who can all the star players are leaving napoli that’s soo sad

  2. It’s the end of a cycle, but calling Napoli relegation contenders is over the top. It’s still a side than can finish top 4, although a some have said it’s more likely they’ll finish in an EL spot. They still have Osimhen (who will probably leave next summer when they don’t make the CL), Kvaratskhelia, who looks like a real good pickup, to replace Insigne, Lozano, who has unexpressed potential at RW and mostly everyone else who was there last season minus KK. I do think Roma and Fiorentina will overtake them in the battle for top 4 though.
