Wolfsburg striker Wout Weghorst has become the latest transfer target for Jose Mourinho’s Roma to replace Edin Dzeko.

It is widely expected that Dzeko will walk away this summer, with reports he could even terminate his contract by mutual consent to secure a free transfer.

The search is only for a replacement and Wolfsburg centre-forward Weghorst is the latest candidate suggested by the Corriere dello Sport.

The Dutch international is worth circa €35m and Bild report that new Roma coach Mourinho already wanted Weghorst at Tottenham Hotspur in January.

It has been noted that Weghorst is a fan of Mou, following him on social media, and he also follows Roma.

He will tur 29 in early August and has contributed 25 goals in 40 competitive games for Wolfsburg this season.
