Italian Football Federation President Giancarlo Abete says the organisation want national Coach Cesare Prandelli to remain in his post.

Prandelli has still not committed his future to the Azzurri beyond this summer’s World Cup in Brazil.

“There is a belief that our relationship with Prandelli can continue,” Abete is quoted as saying on Calciomercato.com.

“Our position is very clear. We believe Prandelli has done a great job looking at results.

“We finished second in the European Championships and third in the Confederations Cup, all during a difficult period for Italian football.

“He has also introduced important values to the team.”
