During his interview with Tuttosport newspaper, Chelsea‘s loan player technical coach Carlo Cudicini said the Blues do not regret selling Ruben Loftus-Cheek to Milan: ‘We have changed philosophy.’

Cudicini spoke about Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s impressive performances at San Siro this season in an interview with Wednesday’s printed edition of Tuttosport newspaper on page 13.

The ex-Italy international saw RLC thrive in the Blues’ Academy but feels the club do not regret selling the England midfielder last summer.

“I don’t think so. He has reached the peak of his maturity, but we have changed philosophy and we rely on young players,” said Cudicini.

“I am happy he’s doing well at Milan, we always keep an eye on him, but it’s a matter of affection.

“He had many coaches at Chelsea, playing in different positions, but nobody understood where he could perform best,” Cudicini continued.

“I am happy he’s getting satisfaction at Milan now, they are a special club for me.”

Cudicini also revealed the first meeting between Loftus-Cheek and Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge, saying that the midfielder was overwhelmed by the coach’s tactical instructions.

Loftus-Cheek joined Milan from Chelsea in a €20m deal last summer and has netted five times in 25 appearances across all competitions with the Rossoneri this term.

His contract at the Stadio Meazza runs out in June 2027.

RLC had netted 13 times in 115 appearances at Chelsea, where he also played under Maurizio Sarri.
