Como CEO Dennis Wise has reacted on Instagram to Gianfranco Zola’s winner against England at Wembley in 1997.

It was a World Cup qualifying match won by the Azzurri 1-0 thanks to a Magic Box strike in the first half.

The ex-Cagliari and Chelsea star posted the video of his goal on Instagram this morning, thanking the unlikely assist man Alessandro Costacurta.

Zola’s former Chelsea teammate Denis Wise, currently the CEO of Serie B side Como, was among those reacting to the video with a crying face emoji.

Wise hadn’t been called up for the game. Zola scored 10 goals in 35 matches with the Azzurri.

Italy and England meet again tonight in a Nations League Group C clash at San Siro.

  1. The love of being Italian no one knows unless you a Italian

The days when Italy had men not these babies

  2. I had been living in England for 3 months when this game happened. The level of ignorance, xenophobia and arrogance spewed by the English kids in my school before this game….! It was so satisfying when we won. I remember going into school the next day, and the very same losers didn’t say a word 😂

  3. Tony

What?? That team finished 2nd in the qualifying and had to go through the play offs to reach the World Cup. Babies? A year old we won the euro’s in the home stadium of another nation and beat Belgium and Spain along the way. Hardly babies.

  4. We miss worlds 2x
