Milan have officially unveiled their new fourth kit, a pixelated effort designed in collaboration with French fashion label Koche.

The Rossoneri have produced a unique and classy shirt, which features their usual black-and-red colour scheme with an eye-catching pixel-based design. Released during the Milan Fashion Week, the club worked with Paris-based label Koche to create the shirt.

Milan will wear their new fourth kit in their upcoming Serie A clash with Atalanta, scheduled for February 26.

The pixelated design of the shirt has been used to create car decals and wheels in the videogame Rocket League, which’ll be released on March 8.

Marco Mueller, PUMA’s Senior Head of Product Line Management Apparel Licensed, explained the decision to use a pixelated design.

“Pixels are the atoms of digital images. They can be reminiscent of 8-bit games, nostalgic early internet graphics and take a contemporary form in the shape of Crypto punks, which are at the centre of pop culture today.

“The idea behind the jersey print is to bend the pixels in a perspective that will pay tribute to the iconic stripes, but at the same time decompose the pixels to blend into the black of the jersey to create a stylized digital look and feel.”

Christelle Kocher, the founder and creative director of Koche, expressed her pride at having designed the Milan fourth kit.

“It was such an honour for me to work on this cult jersey. I am a football fan and Milan is one of the most iconic football clubs of all time.

“I am very proud to bring an elegant KOCHÉ touch to Milan players on the pitch. It was a real pleasure to deep dive into Milan’s DNA and give my modern take on the red and black stripes.”
