New Napoli signing Pasquale Mazzocchi was shown a red card less than five minutes into his debut at the club.
The 28-year-old Italian right back joined the Partenopei from Salernitana earlier this week in a deal worth around €3m, giving coach Walter Mazzarri more flexibility with his backline.
Mazzocchi was brought onto the pitch at half time of Napoli’s Serie A clash with Torino on Sunday afternoon but barely had a chance to perform for his new club before disastrously seeing a red card just minutes into his debut.
The Italian defender flew into a reckless sliding challenge on Valentin Lazaro and was sent off after a VAR check confirmed that his studs were up on the Torino man’s thigh and knee.
