Players of Italy celebrate with goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma (bottom) of Italy after the UEFA EURO 2020 semi final between Italy and Spain in London

Gigio Donnarumma couldn’t hold back the tears after Italy’s win over Spain and the Azzurri dedicated their victory to Leonardo Spinazzola.

Italy booked a place in the EURO 2020 Final beating Spain on penalties at Wembley Stadium.

Chelsea playmaker Jorginho converted the last spot-kick after that Gigio Donnarumma had denied Alvaro Morata.

The PSG-bound goalkeeper broke into tears while celebrating with his teammates after the game.

“There was everything at that moment, it wasn’t easy, but with the strength of this group, we managed to get there,” Donnarumma told Sky Sport Italia.

The Azzurri dedicated the victory to their teammate Leonardo Spinazzola who had sustained a serious Achilles tendon injury during the quarter-finals against Belgium.

Donnarumma, Federico Chiesa and Leonardo Bonucci mentioned the Roma defender in their post-match interviews. The goalkeeper revealed Spinazzola had sent a video in Italy’s Whatsapp group before the game.

Lorenzo Insigne showed a Spinazzola jersey while celebrating with his teammates, who, all together, sang a song for the 28-year-old.

It was a memorable night for the Azzurri at Wembley, where they will return on Sunday to face either England or Denmark in the Final.
