Lorenzo Insigne scored his first home goal for Toronto FC as he and Federico Bernardeschi guided the Canadian side to victory over Portland Timbers.
The Italian pair, who both left Serie A to join the MLS outfit on free transfers this summer, have kicked off life in Canada well, immediately making a strong impression on their new fans.
Toronto FC took the lead after 41 minutes thanks to Jonathan Osorio, but their advantage was slashed after Jose Van Rankin scored an equaliser for Portland Timbers with 17 minutes left. The Italian duo then came to life, with Insigne restoring the lead in the 79th minute and Bernardeschi killing off the match in the 85th.
Insigne has now scored two goals and provided one assist in five matches for Toronto, a goal and an assist less than compatriot Bernardeschi.
