Thierry Henry and Micah Richards, two players with a history in Serie A, gave their thoughts on the racist abuse aimed at Romelu Lukaku in the recent Derby d’Italia.

The Nerazzurri star was racially abused during Inter’s 1-1 draw with Juventus in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-finals, and was shown a second yellow card after responding with a ‘provocative celebration’ after netting a penalty.

The decision to send off Lukaku, and to uphold his one-match ban, has drawn widespread condemnation from the footballing world.

Henry and Richards discussed the situation, with the former furious at the decision to uphold Lukaku’s ban and calling for empathy from the referee. The former Arsenal star also expressed his anger with racism in football, noting that he experienced it everywhere in his career.
