Former Inter coach Andrea Stramaccioni was left in tears after Iran secured a last minute win over Wales at the World Cup in Qatar.

The Italian coach, who spent 14 months in charge of the Nerazzurri from 2012 to 2013, worked with Iranian club Esteghlal for the latter six months of 2019, where he won nine of his 15 games.

Stramaccioni left Esteghlal due to the lack of payment for his coaching staff, brought on by the restrictions of money transfers outside Iran due to international sanctions.

Working for Italian state broadcaster Rai, Stramaccioni has been the colour commentator for the 2022 World Cup, where he was left emotional after Iran netted two extra-time goals to beat Wales.
