Inter and Italy wing-back Federico Dimarco is among the candidates for this year’s FIFA Puskas Award after netting from over 50 yards out in Inter’s 2-0 victory over Frosinone in Serie A in November 2023.
FIFA announced the nominees for every category of The Best FIFA awards on Friday, including the best overall mens and womens players, the Puskas contenders and the Coach of the Year category.
The Puskas Award is effectively FIFA’s goal of the season award, handed out each year to the scorer of some of the most improbable and spectacular strikes over the previous 12 months.
Dimarco is the only candidate from Italy or Serie A among the Puskas Award candidates for 2024.

His nominated goal came almost from the halfway line in Inter’s 2-0 win over Frosinone this time last year, beating Stefano Turati from more than 50 yards out with an audacious lob at San Siro.
Incredible strike. Forza Inter!
