Watch how Nicolo Barella proved why he is the perfect Inter captain in the future during the penalty drama in the Derby d’Italia against Juventus.

The 25-year-old Italian midfielder was one of the first to protest following the challenge in the penalty area and he ran over to tell Denzel Dumfries to ‘be careful not to enter the area’ ahead of Hakan Calhanoglu’s first attempt.

After that kick was missed, Barella jostled with Juan Cuadrado as he tried to explain to referee Massimiliano Irrati that four Bianconeri players had encroached into the box. His reaction after the penalty was awarded is the perfect display of his character.

  1. Barbells is not I stated but he is inconsistent. That level of playing always at high levels is rare among most players. Of course, they have been exception.

  2. It would be good if Barella actually showed some leadership and form for the National team. Annoying how Mancini continually plays him even though he is sleepwalking through the games and one of the reasons Italy is not going to Qatar.

  3. These players only care for their club no one cares for national team anymore it’s all about this god awful league which has no relevance outside Italy anymore . And they have the nerve to scoff at mls meanwhile Canada is in the World Cup

  4. I like Barella and to even handle the ball in front of the referee was genius, but not as good as Lautaro Bruce Lee or Bastoni with the WWE ankle lock hold (Zakaria).

  5. Came to make jokes/comments about how “great” of a leader he is for Italy, I see others have beaten me to the punch.
I used to like Barella despite him playing for Inter, but now I just hate him. His last good game for Italy was the Belgium QF and he’s been dreadful since (yet usually still good for Inter…). He’s fast becoming an Immobile for all I care, and on top of that he’s plain old cancerous on the pitch with his diving and complaining to officials.
You know what, you’re right Football Italia- that makes him the perfect Inter captain!

  6. Look at all the losers here who are sitting behind their screen, and think that they can criticize a player who is 24 years old and has already played about 50-60 games in the last 14-15 months! This guy is clear at his limits and therefore too exhausted and tired!

Beside that, Barella is not the one has missed two penalties. Or the one, who didn’t scored from 7-8 meters!

  7. Who knew Juve fans were so bitter, after getting tired of berating your own players like the three R’s, as you refer to them, you’ve even got som gull left to turn on other teams players, stick to bashing Dybala and Ronaldo as by all counts it won’t take long before you turn on Vlahovic, heck even the steward boys at J stadium aren’t safe going by your scorn.

  8. national players were also not in the game since losing out on world cup. plus too many games cos of corona and inzaghi footy makes players run a lot. thats a recipe for disaster.

Barella has proven himself at euros already. One of the best Italian talents.
