Mario Balotelli scored again for Adana Demirspor yesterday and dedicated his goal celebration to Sergio Aguero.

The former Argentinean striker played with Balotelli at Manchester City and they are still on good terms off the pitch. ‘Super Mario’ scored his 13th goal of the season against Altay yesterday and celebrated by throwing up the horns, just like Aguero used to do.

He posted a picture of his celebration on Instagram, tagging his former teammate, who immediately replied in Italian, writing ‘Grande Mario.’

Balotelli’s teammate Yunus Akgün also joked with the Italy international during his celebration, trying to make him smile after his goal from the spot. The ex-Inter and Milan striker played his last game with the Azzurri in 2018 and hoped to get a call-up for the World Cup Play-offs in March.

Aguero joined Barcelona as a free agent in the summer of 2021, but was forced to retire from football in December due to a heart condition.

  1. mancini should of called mario against macedonia, mario wanted to prove the otherwise however mancini stuck with useless strikers who did nothing but brought shame to italy national team!

  2. @saba, Yes, Balotelli should have been called up and given his chance. No one brought shame to the Italian National Team. Injuries, players not being in form (after the Euro win) and missed opportunities cost Italy. I’ll always be proud of the Italian team, even if they don’t qualify for a tournament. 4 World cups & 2 Euros. More trophies to come.

  3. If the higher ups fix this broken system then it was a blessing to miss this world cup. If nothing changes then it’s a real shame.
