Mauro Icardi’s wife and agent reveals a contract is agreed, so Inter just have to announce it.

It appeared this summer that the striker could leave the Nerazzurri, but he insists he always wanted to stay and has started the season with six goals in five games.

“I was just doing my job,” Wanda Icardi explained to calciomercato.com.

“And I did it with the goal of having Mauro stay at Inter. That was always our objective because we’re tied to this world and these people.

“Indeed, now we have the security of staying an extra year.

“When is the announcement? That’s one for the club, I finished my work in August. We talked and we agreed, we’re happy.

“The kids are Interisti, woe to anyone who knocks them, no-one can say anything bad about Inter or they get upset.”

Despite his goalscoring exploits over the past few seasons, Icardi has just one Argentina cap and Coach Edgardo Bauza doesn’t seem hugely keen to call him up.

“Mauro is young, he can easily play in two World Cups given his age and the quality he shows on the pitch.

“It’s just a matter of time, all the Coaches can see that he keeps scoring goals and I’m sure the national team will come soon.”
