Mauro Icardi’s wife and agent assures “he’s the future number 9” of the Argentina team, despite the Inter man being left out of the World Cup squad.
The Nerazzurri striker was called-up to Jorge Sampaoli’s preliminary squad, but he wasn’t included in the final list.
“My peace of mind comes form the fact that Mauro is the future number 9 of the national team and that he’s Sampaoli’s number 9,” Wanda Icardi told Perros de la Calle.

“Maybe now isn’t the time, but he’s calmly waiting for his chance to play. These are things with no explanation, what’s happening to Mauro is an injustice – he deserves to be there.
“He has everything to be in the national team, in terms of age and performance. He met Sampaoli a couple of times and he told him it’d be hard to stay on the list and Mauro knew that too.
“But we kept hope alive until the very last.
“Mauro is a person who keeps a very low profile. At Inter, he can call someone or send them away just by raising a finger.
“That’s why we didn’t want to talk about the national team, he wanted to be called-up on merit.”
