Both players have a similar salary, which is €7.5m per season, but due to some financial benefits, the clubs do not pay the same figures.
That is because Alexis Sanchez arrived at Inter from Manchester United, so was able to benefit from the discount of up to 50 per cent on taxes on his salary for those who worked abroad over the last two years.
Dzeko is a Roma veteran, so his wages are paid in full without the tax cut.
According to Sportitalia and La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter will only complete the transfer if they don’t change their current wage bill in any way.
The negotiations continue, but the key could be getting rid of other players with big wages, following in the footsteps of Radja Nainggolan’s loan to Cagliari.
Inter have been hit harder by the financial crisis caused by the pandemic than any other Italian club.
