Mirko Vucinic admits Roma not winning the Scudetto in 2010 ‘will stay with me for life’ and reveals he clashed with Simone Perrotta against Sampdoria.

Roma had the Serie A title in their hands when they faced Samp, but they squandered a 1-0 lead to lose 2-1 and Inter went on to defend their crown as part of an historic Treble.

“It’s a wound that’s stopped healing,” Vucinic told Sky Sport Italia. “It’ll stay with me for life.

“I came close to winning two Scudetti with Roma, but they were taken away from me on the last day.

“I’m also sorry to all the Giallorossi fans.”

The former Juventus attacker then confessed to quarrelling with Perrotta during the match, lamenting his inability to ‘keep quiet’.

“I can’t explain it to you. In that second half, they had two attempts on goal.

“It’s also been said that I had an argument with Perrotta at half-time, but it was normal. We cleared the air immediately.

“It was all because I didn’t pass him the ball. He said something to me and I answered him back.

“Thinking about it now, I should’ve kept quiet. He was more experienced, a world champion and a leader for us. Then they came up with those two goals…”

However, he did score a brace in a 2-1 derby victory over Lazio that season, which saw Claudio Ranieri take off Francesco Totti and Daniele De Rossi at half-time…

“I didn’t expect us to win because nothing was coming off in the first half, then the coach took off Totti and De Rossi, which was slightly crazy.

“He was practically removing the supporting wall of the stadium, but he was made right because we won.

“I won’t tell you what happened after the game… We celebrated and let’s say I wasn’t too drunk…

“[The goals] made me look good! My closest friends support Lazio and they didn’t talk to me for days.”
