Nikola Vlasic’s father confirms ‘there is something’ in stories of negotiations between Milan and CSKA Moscow, but he ‘can’t say too much now.’

The Croatia international midfielder has been pinpointed as a potential replacement for Hakan Calhanoglu, who left as a free agent to join rivals Inter.

“There is something with Milan, but I can’t say too much right now,” Josko Vlasic told net.hr in Croatia.

“These are things that you shouldn’t discuss too much until it has reached a conclusion.”

According to the latest reports from Russia and Sky Sport Italia, the initial offer of a €5m loan with €25m option to buy that becomes an obligation if they qualify for the Champions League has been rejected.

CSKA are determined to only sell Vlasic on a permanent deal, or with an obligation to buy that is guaranteed at the end of the season.

Milan hope to spread out the cost of the operation and give themselves some leeway in case Vlasic struggles to adapt to Serie A.

The 23-year-old scored 12 goals and provided five assists in 34 competitive games for the club last season.

He found the net six times in 26 senior caps for Croatia, including one in their UEFA EURO 2020 campaign during the 3-1 victory over Scotland.
