Pressure mounts on Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic with fans and media discussing his reaction to being subbed off against Genoa yesterday.

The Serbia international hasn’t scored in the last three Serie A games (four, considering the Coppa game against Fiorentina) and was quite disappointed when Max Allegri subbed him off against Genoa yesterday.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Vlahovic was unhappy with his performance rather than Allegri’s decision to replace him. The Italian tactician defended the striker after the match, saying he had put in a good performance.

The striker’s goal-per-minute ratio has risen since his move to Juventus, where he has managed one goal every 207 minutes. During the first part of the season at Fiorentina, he had netted once every 102 minutes.

“This was one of Vlahovic’s best games on a technical level. I am very pleased with the way he played with his technique,” he told DAZN.

Allegri stands up for Juventus, Vlahovic and Kean

“I tried to explain it before, but I was attacked as if I was the one ruining Vlahovic. He hasn’t played that many Serie A games and we need to find a balance here.

“Maybe he didn’t realise it was a good performance, I think next season we will see a definite improvement in terms of how he balances out the tempo of his performance, learning that he hasn’t failed if he doesn’t score a goal, there’s more to it.”

The Serbia international was replaced after 75 minutes to let him rest ahead of Wednesday’s Coppa Italia Final.

“I don’t agree with his reaction,” Former Serie A and Italy goalkeeper Luca Marchegiani told Sky Sport Italia after the game.

“It’s normal to score sometimes, he is taking it personally and this frustration is reflected in the way he plays. He must remain calm because Juventus need him to win the Coppa Italia.”

Fans on social media are also discussing Vlahovic’s performance and overall impact at Juventus. Contrary to Marchegiani, most fans blame Allegri and his defensive tactics for the striker’s drop. The 22-year-old has scored seven goals in 18 games since his move to the Allianz Stadium in January.

  1. Allegri ruining Vlahovic’s talent. Probably the only reason Ronaldo left was because they appointed this bus driver. To be clear Kean is only performing this bad because he hasn’t had a look in all season and then he’s expected to have a game of his life. Not the kids fault the management don’t have a clue.

  2. Not true. Kean missed sitters and that’s a fact. My dead grandma would have scored in that empty net last night. Unforgivable. Ronaldo left because instead of bringing in a Modric, we bought Locatelli. That was the sign of the club’s ambition which meant we’d have no chance at the CL… Which is what Ronaldo wanted, so he decided to go to a 6th placed team instead.

  3. Fateisognare@

Ronaldo left because he wasn’t wanted at the club. He had become to expensive for a club that struggled financialy post the COVID pandemic.

  4. Vlahovic should play Dybala role, he is better off as the linkage…with Kean being the target…thereby allowing him to have more space..Kean is better on the air and ahould be the striker.

  5. Anti Allegri silly people are partially blind. Lets ignore all the missed chances last night, and concentrate on blaming Allegri. Funny stuff, but it has become boring to listen to them.

He subbed vlaho because he is thinking about next match which is far more important than last night, specially that we all knew there will be no harm done in loosing last night.

Keep nagging and bore us with your ignorant mentalities… You like it or not, THE MISTER is here, and he is staying for long 🙂

  6. imagine playing cantenaccio with one the best ST in the world. vlahovic ruining his career going to juventus he should go to spain or england. he will regret this forever.

  7. You would say that Paratici, you think a free Ramsey and Rabiot is a good deal. Forza Moggi nailed it. If Vlahovic is angry, take it out in the cup final v Inter.

  8. Welcome to PhD Max and his zombie apocalypse anti football world, home of the graveyard of empires and destroyer of all football mankind. Moise cannot find the space even if you opened up a barn door and Dusan is suffering from Covid Max 2.0 Omicron. Stats do not lie, and both Conte / Marotta are not there to build him his playhouse. Dusan gambled wrong and he should have stayed with La Viola waited for a an actual behemoth to scoop him up or gone to the North London Boys Brigade to improve his stellar reputation first hand in the EPL.

  9. What a load of nonsense. He is a bit frustrated that he hasnt scored, but NO WAY is he angry that he got subbed because (A) Juve already sealed 4th placed and (B) There is a CUP FINAL in 3 DAYS!
    Silly Twitter people, as usual

  10. Y’all allegri sympathizers are going to suffer very badly, it’s not just about having a good squad to play with, its also about transforming the talents in the players you have…even kulusevski who thrived under Pirlo and now Conte suddenly became bad under Allegri? And if not his training methods, explain to me how 95 percent of the team becomes injured at one time or another in the same season including the keeper, allegri will run Juventus into the ground

  11. It was always going to be hard to score under Allegri.

His methods are in the dark ages, and he’d have been delighted with a 1 – 0 vs Genoa yesterday where they won by grit rather than talent and attacking football.

Allegri did well up to a point in his first spell at Juve, but he seems to have gotten worse just like the club itself.

Vlahovic will need a braver manager to get the best out of him. If he were to get that, you’d be looking at 20 – 30 a season.

  12. Milan is waiting with open arms, soon we’ll have the take over funding in place. Perfect replacement for Ibra. We’ll take Chiesa for the right wing as well.

  13. This team was ripe for the overhaul end of last season. Instead of forging ahead with an ambitious coach who plays modern football they went into a hot tub time machine with Allegri as some sort of a band-aid. Allegri is outdated and prehistoric but the management for their knee jerk reaction is very vsry suspect and needs to be held accountable. Brainless decision by agnelli and co. Do the right thing and fire Allegri, overhaul the team. Anything less showa management actually has no formula or plan for success, they are just guessing.

  14. Gio, they literally did that with Sarri and Pirlo and lost 3 seasons worth of rebuilding. The fans are impatient and won’t stand another reset. Allegri is the project and getting rid of deadwood is the key. It’s never been Juve’s style to hire and fire, we need continuity. Then if next year, nothing changes, that can fall squarely on Allegri’s lap.

  15. I like the project that is taking place and the History channel should start a documentary series on Medieval Max and the entitled the “rise of the slow ball, evolution of the dinosaur chapter ii”.
