The Viola sit 13th in the table and are safe ahead of the last match against Crotone, but Vlahovic admitted he personally doesn’t want the season to end.

“I’ll be honest,” he told Meridian Sport. “I’m sorry it’s over now. But I don’t think anyone expected what I did.

“I’m only sorry we battled for safety for so long, that we couldn’t reach a higher position. I’m sorry my goals didn’t help us achieve higher targets.”

The Serbian striker, has attracted interest from the giants in Serie A, was asked if he would be able to reject a proposal from compatriot Sinisa Mihajlovic, currently coaching Bologna.

“He’s a great legend of Serbian and Italian football,” Vlahoci said. “It’s difficult to reject Miha, but at the moment I’m only thinking about Fiorentina.

“We’ll see what happens in the future.”

The striker has also been mentioned in links with foreign clubs, especially in the Premier League.

“You never know, maybe it will happen tomorrow,” he continued. “Or maybe I’ll stay my entire career in Serie A.”
