Dusan Vlahovic is confident Juventus are ‘starting a new era and must have the ambition of winning the Scudetto’ after finishing third this season.

The striker is currently on international duty with Serbia ahead of EURO 2024, where his nation will be in a group with England, Slovakia and Denmark.

While speaking to the local media, he also looked at the current situation in Turin, where Max Allegri was sacked and Thiago Motta is preparing to take over.

“Juve are one of the biggest clubs in the world, the biggest in Italy, and accustomed to winning trophies every year,” said Vlahovic.

“We were in the running for the Scudetto until February, but in the end Inter won deservedly and there are no doubts on that.

“This next season could be a launching pad for us. We’ve seen that we can do it, so Juventus must get back to winning the Scudetto, or at least having the ambition to do so.”

Vlahovic confident at Juventus

Thiago Motta will bring a different style of football to the Old Lady and Vlahovic can see a generational shift in the squad too.

“We are certainly opening up a new era and we have many young players. We’ll aim for the title, although I cannot say if we will win the Scudetto next season.”

Juventus did not end the campaign empty-handed, as they beat Atalanta 1-0 in the Final to win the Coppa Italia.

“We’re very happy, as winning the Coppa Italia and qualifying for the Champions League were our objectives and we achieved them.”

Vlahovic is among the most famous sportsmen in Serbia, but cannot compete with Novak Djokovic, who is the striker’s hero.

When the champion was in the stands for a game between Juventus and Cagliari in November, they got to meet.

“We didn’t have the opportunity to sit down for a coffee, as the game ended late and I was too shy to ask him…

“I’d love to meet Djokovic again, he gave me his phone number and said I could call him. It’s an immense honour for me. He is the best in the history of tennis and one of the best in sport in general.”
