Former Fiorentina boss Cesare Prandelli believes Dusan Vlahovic should ‘get inspiration’ from Manchester City star Erling Haaland.
Vlahovic started scoring consistently at Fiorentina under Prandelli in 2021 and continued after the Italian tactician and the Tuscans parted ways by mutual agreement, paving the way for Giuseppe Iachini’s return at the Stadio Franchi.
Prandelli spoke about the Serbia international in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, comparing the 23-year-old to Haaland.
“Haaland has an incredible quality. He breaks into the box with incredible determination. Strikers study each other and Dusan must get inspiration from Erling,” he said.
“I think Dusan is being up to the task. He must remain calm and don’t overdue. It takes time to get back in shape after an injury. Sometimes people forget he was born in 2000.”
Vlahovic started his first game with Federico Chiesa at Juventus on February 2, in a home Coppa Italia clash against Lazio.
“I have memories of Federico in Fiorentina’s youth sector. He and Vlahovic will form a devastating attacking partnership, they are complete,” said Prandelli.
What does the former coach make of Juventus’ campaign so far?
“They are just one point below seventh, but they are still Juventus.
“Sometimes a point penalty can give motivation and Europa League and Coppa Italia can give a further push. Allegri must be able to involve all players, so the group will come out stronger.”
Prandelli, who also coached Italy and led the Azzurri to a EURO 2014 Final, confirms he is not planning to return to the dug-out.
“I still have passion, but I don’t miss the bench,” he said.
“I was feeling anxious and alone also because games were played behind closed doors due to COVID. I thank Fiorentina who understood me. If I ever return, it will be with a different role.”
