Dusan Vlahovic bagged a hat-trick against Spezia and the Fiorentina striker is now on 25 Serie A goals in 2021, as he joined Erling Haaland as the second player born after 2000 to score two hat-tricks.

The Viola star continues to impress in the Italian top flight, scoring his eighth in 2021-22 and thus surpassed Fiorentina’s former heroes Gabriel Batistuta and Luca Toni in the most amount of goals in a calendar year.

Record-breaking Vlahovic overtakes Toni and Batistuta: two goals behind Hamrin

Vlahovic has been linked with a move away from Florence after refusing to sign a new deal with the club, as Rocco Commisso offered him a lucrative contract to make him the highest paid player in the club’s history.

Opta reports the 21-year-old continues to chase records with his goals in purple, as Haaland and Robert Lewandowski, who play for Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich respectively, are the only players who have scored more in the top five leagues this calendar year.

Lewandowski is also the only player to have scored more hat-tricks than the Serbia international in those five leagues this year.

Against Spezia on Sunday, Vlahovic scored his 11th penalty in Serie A, and thus joined a list of only three players to have scored 100 per cent of penalties taken in the Italian top flight.
