Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic didn’t want to ‘disturb’ Zlatan Ibrahimovic after the Viola’s ‘special’ 4-3 win over Milan and revealed what Cristiano Ronaldo told him after Serbia qualified for the 2022 World Cup.

The Serbia international continues to impress and has scored 10 goals in 13 Serie A games this term, including a brace in the win over the Rossoneri last weekend.

Vlahovic: ‘I want to take Fiorentina into Europe’

The Viola striker admitted he wants to help get Fiorentina back to Europe after a good start to life under Vincenzo Italiano, before he spoke about the big win against the Diavolo.

“The match against Milan was a dream,” Vlahovic told Telegraph.rs. “But as in any job, the past is already forgotten and the most important thing is what’s to come.

“I try not to follow the media very much, but somehow they always manage to reach me. Either my friends send them to me or I see it on social media.

“I have to continue training even harder and with even greater desire and will, and I hope to continue like this.”

Vlahovic revealed the games against Milan are always ‘special’ due to his idol Ibrahimovic, but revealed he didn’t speak to the superstar after the win against the Rossoneri last weekend.

The Serbian explained he didn’t want to ‘disturb’ the Swede after the 4-3 win, but recalled the special moment from the past, when Zlatan gave him a shirt.

“Zlatan told me in Serbian to ‘not give up and continue ahead’,” Vlahovic added. “He wrote me a message in our language on the shirt.

“Every match against Milan is something special to me because everyone knows the stories about Ibrahimovic, who is my idol.

“On Saturday, I scored my first goal against Milan, I won against Milan for the first time and it’s a great pleasure.

“Am I his heir? I don’t feel like his heir and I think everyone should go his own way. He’s a great champion, one of the best strikers I have ever faced in football, but I still have a lot to do to get close to his level.

“I try to have my own path, to work more on myself, to improve myself and get the best results.”

Serbia managed to win Group A of the Europan World Cup Qualifiers and thus booked an automatic place in Qatar 2022.

Vlahovic: ‘I can’t wait to play in the World Cup’

Vlahovic confirmed he spoke to Manchester United talisman Cristiano Ronaldo after the 2-1 win over Portugal, who was ‘angry’ after the defeat.

“My dad always told me, after every game, whether you win or lose, go to talk to you opponents, shake hands with everyone and the referee,” Vlahovic said. “I still do today.

“So, I went to him and at that moment, understandably, he was very agitated and angry. The only thing he said to me, as is well known, was that the goal in Belgrade had to stand and that perhaps this reversed everything.

“I wished them good luck in the play-offs and told them they will go through, because they have one of the best players in the world.”

  1. I noticed Zlatan clapping him when he scored the last Fiorentina goal. 👏 Zlatan came to the fore in the 2nd half of that match but it was cool to see him acknowledge Dusan’s match-winning contribution too.

  2. Remember when do roon asks for ronnies jersey and he just ran off, remember when ronnie threw his juve jersey off and on the ground remember when ronnie knocked out sirigu and ran off. Gotta love him!
