Dusan Vlahovic will return to face Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia semi-final with Juventus, but insists ‘it will be a game like any other’ and he’s ready for the fiery reception at the Stadio Franchi.

It was a real slog to beat Sassuolo 2-1, as after Paulo Dybala’s early volley, Junior Hamed Traore equalised with a splendid curler into the far top corner.

Gianluca Pegolo performed heroics with a series of saves, while the woodwork kept out Weston McKennie and Matthijs de Ligt, until Vlahovic’s solo run took a deflection off Ruan Tressoldi.

Coppa Italia | Juventus 2-1 Sassuolo: Dybala and Vlahovic set up Fiorentina semi

“It will take time, we are still at the start, but as I already said I owe a great deal to my teammates, the coach and club for giving me so much help. Nothing would be possible without them, it is an honour for me to play here and be at the disposal of this fantastic team,” the Serbian told Sport Mediaset.

“We get along both on and off the field, as Paulo and Alvaro are really nice guys who have won so much. I am here to learn and try to reach their level.”

It means Juve will face Fiorentina in the two-legged Coppa Italia semi-final, so Vlahovic will have to travel to the Stadio Artemio Franchi and play against his former teammates.

The other semi-final is between local rivals Milan and Inter.

It’s safe to say Vlahovic will not face a warm welcome in Florence, so is he prepared for that?

“I am thinking only of the match, to win and anything else is not very interesting to me. It will be a game like any other, we are here to play football and it’s not a problem for me.”
