Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic continues to shatter records, equalling Luca Toni’s 31 Serie A goals in one calendar year and closing on Cristiano Ronaldo’s tally of 33.

The Serbia international found the net yet again during today’s Serie A encounter with Salernitana at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

He scored with his weaker right foot this afternoon, so with 14 goals has scored more this season than the entire Salernitana squad – 11.

It has allowed Vlahovic to equal the tally of 31 in a single calendar year that was also set by former Fiorentina hitman Toni in 2005.

The all-time record is also well within his grasp, as Cristiano Ronaldo found the back of the net 33 times in Serie A during 2020 for Juventus.

This was Vlahovic’s sixth goal in the last five Serie A appearances and all before his 22nd birthday, which will be next month.

His contract with Fiorentina expires in June 2023 and he has refused to sign an extension, so a January exit is not out of the question, with the asking price set at €70m.

  1. Should have waited to see if he scored again, which he did, before posting.

May have been harder for Toni but Fiorentina were arguably better then too.

  2. Also,

Wasn’t there still only 18 teams back then?

Now with 20, more matches and 4 more matches against lower end teams to pad the stats.

Am surprised that Gabriel Batistuta didn’t hit 30 goals in a calendar year.

  3. What kinda stupid record is that. ‘in a calendar year’

Capocannieri means something and measured over a season.

It’s just like the winter champions, Napoli are always winter champions.
