La Viola have brought the 20-year-old back to the club this summer for pre-season following a notable season in Serie B with Crotone, that earned him a spot in Cesare Prandelli’s Italy squad called up for pre-World Cup tests in April.
On from this, the Gazzetta dello Sport report that Montella is planning a prominent role for the youngster next season, to act either as an alternative striker to Giuseppe Rossi, or to play as a false nine.
Either role would represent a move back to a more advanced position for Bernardeschi, who at Crotone otherwise played in attacking midfield.
