Fiorentina co-owner Andrea Della Valle says Sampdoria target Vincenzo Montella’s buyout clause ‘must be respected.’

The Blucerchiati sacked Coach Walter Zenga earlier today and are believed to have reached personal terms with Montella to take over.

However, the Marassi outfit would have to pay La Viola a fee believed to be €5m to release Montella from his buyout clause from his time as Coach at the Artemio Franchi.

“Regarding Montella, there is a clause and it will be respected,” Della Valle told FirenzaViola.

“The Coach knows that very well because he was the one who wanted it.

“My directors will meet his agent, who is very good, and all of us will use common sense. The fact remains that contracts must be respected.”

Della Valle went on to discuss the excellent performances of his side under Paulo Sousa this season, as they are joint top of Serie A after 12 weeks.

“This Fiorentina is above our expectations,” he said.

“But as soon as Sousa arrived I believed in him right away, although I know that this could seem like a convenient phrase.

“I had this feeling. Now we have to keep our feet on the ground.

“We have a beautiful game and great personality and this is the aspect that makes me happiest.

“Everything is nice. Now let's enjoy this moment with humility and awareness.

“For the Scudetto it’s still very early, the important thing is to continue on this path with great football and entertainment for our fans and to make them proud.

“If there is something to do in January, we will do it. Now let's enjoy the moment thanks to Sousa and these guys.”
