Matias Vina arrived at Roma a Copa Libertadores champion but after less than 18 months in Rome he’s already set to join Turkish outfit Galatasaray.

The Giallorossi signed the 24-year-old Uruguayan full back from Palmeiras for around €13m plus a future resale clause last August, exciting fans in the Italian capital. Milan had also had their sights set on Vina for a while but ultimately lost out to Roma, who were overjoyed to secure his signature.

A year later, things have changed. Vina failed to impress during his debut season under Jose Mourinho, providing only two assists across 37 appearances in all competitions.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, Vina was only a step away from joining Galatasaray in the summer transfer window, but a deal couldn’t be completed with Roma in time. Although he’s still a part of Mourinho’s squad in the Italian capital, his fate is not expected to change.

The Giallorossi and Galatasaray have already agreed to finalise the deal in the upcoming January transfer window, so it’s unlikely that the 24-year-old will see much action until then.
