Zenit Coach Andre Villas-Boas concedes “it would’ve been a different result” had Torino not played for an hour with 10 men.
The Russians won the first leg of this Europa League Round of 16 tie by a 2-0 scoreline following Marco Benassi’s dismissal.
“I think the red card modified Torino’s game-plan, taking away a striker to go on the counter-attack,” AVB told Mediaset Premium.

“Up until then we’d had good pressure and kept the ball well, but the problem is it’s very difficult to play against five defenders and three midfielders.
“We created less than we wanted to, but I think in general it’s the right result. Of course it’s obvious it would’ve been a different result if it had been 11 against 11.
“If we had scored another goal, we’d be more relaxed going to Turin for the second leg. In my career I’ve won a game 3-0 for Tottenham against Inter and suffered like mad in the second leg.”
