‘Villarreal? Teams fear Roma!’

Roma director Antonio Tempestilli is wary of the threat posed by Villarreal in the Europa League last 32 but insists “others fear us”.

Villarreal knocked Napoli out of the Europa League at the same stage last season, prompting Tempestilli to acknowledge the Spaniards as “a very good team” but also that Roma were “geared” to aim high.

“We must think about one game at a time, now we’re focused on the game tonight against Milan,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“The Coach has prepared the team in the best way possible. In February, we will play against a team with good experience. It won’t be easy, but also we have our cards to play. Others fear us.

“A club like ours should always set objectives and try to reach them. Everybody wants to win, so it won’t be easy, but we’re geared to do well and we’ll try to go all the way.

“Salah? If action needs to be taken, the club will be available, but I can’t answer because I don’t follow these issues.

“Salah is a significant absence, but this will be tended to in the future. We’ll see how Spalletti adjusts care of the team.

“Villarreal are a very good team, but we must always grow and be competitive, improving year after year. A squad like ours must always aim to achieve great things.”
