Spanish media reports are suggesting that Villarreal could make a bid to sign Alessandro Diamanti following the relegation of Brescia.

Diamanti joined Brescia only last summer on a five-year contract after spending a season in the Premiership with West Ham.

However, the Italian international could be on the move again after he failed to keep his club in the Italian top flight.

Diamanti is Brescia's top earner, along with Andrea Caracciolo, thanks to his salary of €0.8m a campaign.

The Lombard club may be looking to get rid of his wages and Villarreal, who already have Italian Giuseppe Rossi in their ranks, may be willing to sign him.

Diamanti is an attacking midfielder who has spent most of his career in the lower Divisions of Italian football.

The 28-year-old made his Italy debut earlier this season in the 1-1 draw with Romania on November 14.
