Christian Vieri gave his thoughts on Romelu Lukaku’s possible return to Inter and suggested that signing Paulo Dybala is a good move, but only if Lautaro Martinez doesn’t leave.

The 29-year-old Belgian forward is reportedly desperate to return to the Nerazzurri this summer and is trying to push a move away from Chelsea. The Milanese club are also in talks with Paulo Dybala, keen to pick him up on a free transfer.

Speaking to Corriere dello Sport, Vieri first gave his thoughts on seeing Lukaku return to Inter this summer.

“I believe that when Lukaku left he made a professional choice and chose what he thought was best for him. Bonucci from Juve went to Milan and then came back. Football is a job, it can happen that you return to somewhere where you’ve already been.”

The former Italy international then discussed the idea of seeing Dybala join Inter on a free transfer.

“Yes, but only if his arrival does not mean giving up Lautaro. Otherwise I would keep Lautaro who, despite Lukaku’s departure, is having the best season of his career, with 25 total goals.

“Lautaro seems to me a guarantee. He’s young, he’s been at Inter for many years and I wouldn’t give him up if not for an economic reason.”

Inter failed to defend their Scudetto this season, finishing two points behind eventual winners Milan. The title race went down to the wire, so the Nerazzurri are hoping that their summer reinforcements will be enough to see them return to the top once again.
