Duvan Zapata opened the scoring for Torino against Atalanta in unusual circumstances in Monday evening’s sole Serie A fixture, as the Colombian is still technically on loan from La Dea.
Zapata was put up for sale by Atalanta in the summer, and despite reports that Inter were considering a move for the experienced Serie A striker, he was eventually sent out on loan to Torino.
The 32-year-old is into the final year of his contract with Atalanta and is on loan at Torino until the end of the 2023-24 season, so it is highly unlikely that he will return to Gian Piero Gasperini’s side.
Zapata showed decent composure to take a touch in the area after 22 minutes of Torino’s encounter with Atalanta, before finishing past Juan Musso from the edge of the six-yard box for his third goal of the season.
He then dusted himself off and decided not to celebrate against his parent club.
